Understanding Spray Tips

| Remember to select a pump that has the fluid flow capacity to support the chosen coating and tip size. Generally speaking, thicker coatings require larger tips. The following tips selection guide will help you select both the pump and tip required for the job. As an example, if you are spraying latex that requires a 0.017 tip, your pump will need to have a minimum flow rate of 0.33 gpm. |

Tip Wear

| Tip wear has a big impact on the amount of paint used for a job. When sprayer performance degrades, first check tip wear. A worn tip reveals itself by producing a reduced fan width while the flow rate increases. The result is that a painter uses more paint to cover less area. |
